The succursal Church of the Holy Cross at Planica

Walking through the Planica hamlet, you will spot the church on the top of the hill. The oldest part of this succursal church is the original Chapel of the Holy Spirit. This part of the church was built before 1679 and is still preserved in today’s sacristy. The rest of the church was built in 1816 and restored in 1882.

This single-nave church with an altar at the end has a bell tower leaning against one of its side walls, and you can enter the semi-circular chapel by walking through it. The interior of the church is vaulted. Next to the Church of the Holy Cross, there is something else that will catch your eye: a linden tree (Tilia platyphyllos L.) that has a circumference of 2.90m and is 15m tall.With these measurements it qualifies as one of the biggest linden trees in Slovenia.
